Mickey Mouse Sugar Cookies

Ever since my recent trip to Disney World I knew that had to share my Mickey Mouse sugar cookies.  I made these cookies for my nephew who is a HUGE Mickey Mouse fan.  My nephew made a special request for Mickey Mouse cookies for his 3rd birthday party.  I also made other Mickey themed cookies for the party which were less involved and those are also great options for a Mickey themed party.  Below is my tutorial on how to make Mickey Mouse sugar cookies and for the recipe please see my Christmas sugar cookies post.

I used a big Mickey Mouse cookie cutter to shape the cookies and baked them and let them cool.

I traced out the cookie cutter on a paper and then sketched my best free form Mickey Mouse onto it.  I used that as my guide to sketch Mickey onto my cookie with an edible black marker.

Afterwards I piped black royal icing over the outlines of Mickey's face and let it dry.

Then I filled in the ears with black royal icing and traced out the Mickey's mouth.

Once dry, I filled in Mickey's mouth with black royal icing and filled out the eyes in white 20 second royal icing.

I then proceeded with a beige royal icing to fill out Mickey's face.

Once the icing was set, I used black 20 second royal icing to pipe out Mickey's nose and the line at the base of his eyes.

After that I filled in Mickey's tongue with red royal icing and piped out Mickey's pupils with black 20 second.

Here's the Mickey Mouse sugar cookie once it was complete!  It takes a few days to decorate, so plan ahead!

I thought that adding yellow sanding sugar to the stars would add a nice touch to the cookies.

Here are the Mickey hands and stars that I brought to the birthday party.

I also made chocolate sugar cookies to accompany the big Mickey cookies.
